October is a special month for SpendMend. For the past 8 years, our team has proudly participated in the annual Bee Brave 5K, a community-organized event that raises funds and awareness for breast cancer research based out of Grand Rapids, MI. This year, we’re thrilled to share that our team raised an impressive $6,655, making us the second-highest fundraising group!
The Bee Brave 5K is more than just a race. It’s a way to show support for those battling breast cancer, honor those who have overcome it, and remember those we’ve lost. What makes this event even more meaningful is that 100% of the registration fees go directly to the Van Andel Institute to fund their groundbreaking breast cancer research. Every dollar raised goes toward developing better treatments, improving early detection, and, ultimately, finding a cure.
This year’s event was a true team effort, and we want to thank everyone who supported us—whether through donations, spreading the word, or joining us on race day. We even had some four-legged friends join in! Despite the chilly weather, our team showed up bright and early, determined to make a difference and take each step with purpose.
While we’re incredibly proud of what we accomplished, the real victory is in the lives we’re helping to change. The Bee Brave 5K raised over $156,000 this year, and we are so honored to have contributed to that total. These funds make a tangible impact by supporting ongoing research at Van Andel Institute and providing hope to countless families.
If you missed the race or want to keep supporting this great cause, it’s not too late! The donation link will remain open throughout October, and every contribution—big or small—can make a difference: https://runsignup.com/spendmend24
We’re so grateful to be part of this inspiring community event year after year. Let’s continue making October a month of action, awareness, and hope. Together, we are stronger, and together, we can help put an end to breast cancer.
