GRAND RAPID, Mich., May 4, 2021 (Newswire.com) – SpendMend, the leading provider of tech-enabled solutions to optimize the cost-cycle for the healthcare industry, announced today the release of a major expansion of their award-winning Medical Device Warranty Tracking Portal and Platform.
The newly expanded solution enables U.S. Health Systems to universally track explanted devices across all foreign and domestic manufacturers, ensuring tracking and compliance for all warrantied and non-warrantied devices. In addition, SpendMend has simplified explant logging with a new OCR engine, while adding the ability to include multiple explants into a single procedure record.
The newly expanded system features increased security measures for protecting Patient Health Information (PHI) with the inclusion of server-level de-identification of sensitive information to prevent inadvertent visual and digital sharing of confidential patient data. All real-time user requests for re-identification are logged to provide a complete audit trail of PHI access.
In addition to these expanded security measures, SpendMend has also significantly reduced research time through the addition of an automatic alert that is triggered by the submission of a recalled device model number as part of the tracking procedure.
“Our team has been consulting explant procedures for nearly 20 years,” says Dennis Beall, Medical Device Audit and Compliance Practice Leader at SpendMend. “We provide a ‘software solution’ and a ‘people solution’ to help our clients every step of the way – from the time of the explant until a warranty credit is issued and handled properly as per OIG and Medicare guidelines.”
The newly expanded Medical Device Warranty Tracking Software is in use at U.S. hospitals and generally available with no limitations or restrictions.
