This week SpendMend is highlighting Zack Aubuchon. Zack is a Systems Administrator here. Recently, Zack was voted as the SpendMend employee of the quarter for his great work ethic and contributions to the team. He has been with SpendMend a little more than a year, but it seems like it’s been way longer, because he has been part of the family for years! Zack is not the first Aubuchon to work here at SpendMend. Mindy Aubuchon (Zack’s mom) also works at SpendMend and is part of the reason Zack joined our team. Zack is definitely a familiar face around the office and is constantly coming to the rescue day in and day out especially during system changes or the slightest hint of a tech issue. There have been countless instances where SpendMend employees have technical issues and Zack is always there to fix it! Zack takes pride in helping everyone out and says his proudest accomplishment at SpendMend was migrating our entire infrastructure to Azure. We recognize what a great team member you are and appreciate you so much! Thank you, Zack!
Interview with Zack:
How did you first learn about SpendMend?
I worked for the Managed Service Provider for SpendMend. My mother also works for the organization.
Do you have any hobbies or participate in any activities outside of work?
I am a member of the Pokemon Go community and represent team Instinct in Grand Rapids. I am also a regular for 5:30am YMCA Men’s basketball Mon, Wed, Fri (get at me if you want in on either!)
Basketball is a hobby for our previous Associate Spotlight Series feature Mitchell Malling (read his HERE). Looks like a SpendMend team is in the works.
What 3 words would you use to describe SpendMend?
Progressive, Curious, Innovative
Why do you look forward to coming to work?
In the world of IT, you never know what hurdles you may face from one day to the next. Having the opportunity to help makes someone else’s day better is incredibly rewarding.
Before working at SpendMend, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
I worked as a finish carpenter, working on multi-million-dollar homes all along lake Michigan. Not only did I get to work on incredible homes and meet all sorts of different personalities; I was able to hone my woodworking skills while working with some of the finest lumber in the world. Plus, now I have the blueprints for an incredible wine cellar some day!
What is your favorite in house event?
Did I hear someone say White Chili?
*Editor’s Note: Zack must have voted for Becky’s award-winning white chicken chili.
What type of music or podcasts do you listen to during the workday?
All music, except Heavy Metal and EDM. I like to listen to Free Beer and Hotwings, Joe Rogan, and Dan Patrick podcasts.
Do you want to shout out a co-worker who has helped or inspired you at SpendMend?
I want to shoutout my entire team. Without them, I’m nothing.
What is something you’re looking forward to for your future at SpendMend?
I look forward to seeing how our leaders continue to push the innovation needle as we continue to grow and prosper.
