Welcome to the Employee Spotlight Series! This week, we interviewed Tracy Clark. Tracy is a Statement Caller and has been a part of the SpendMend team for about a year and a half. When asked what she looks forward to in her future at SpendMend, she stated, “I would like to continue to help SpendMend grow and prosper.” A fun fact about Tracy is that she is from Grand Rapids, MI. She received her associate’s degree in Applied Arts and Science in Culinary Arts at Grand Rapids Community College! One of Tracy’s favorite hobbies is cooking for her family. She likes cooking Southern, Mexican, and American cuisines. Some of her “fan favorite” dishes she makes are macaroni and cheese, sweet potato pies, lasagna, and many more! When asked what she enjoys most about cooking, Tracy states, “I enjoy seeing my family and others enjoying the food and the smile it brings to them.” She is eager to test a beef Wellington recipe soon! She has not made it since culinary school, and she would like to try again. Another hobby Tracy likes is traveling with her husband, family, and friends. Her favorite places to visit are cruises and tropical areas, especially Hawaii. She loved Oahu for its culture and beauty! She would love to move there one day and explore the other islands. Where are you located/from?
I’m from Grand Rapids, Michigan, and currently live in GR.
Where did you go for higher education? What did you study?
I received my associate’s degree in Applied Arts and Science in Culinary Arts at Grand Rapids Community College in 2021.
Why do you look forward to coming to work?
Talking to new people every day.
What is one fun fact about you?
I love cooking for my family for the holidays.
What are your favorite foods to make?
I like cooking Southern, Mexican, and American cuisines.
What is your “fan favorite” dish you make?
My fan favorites are macaroni and cheese, greens, cornbread dressing, sweet potato pie, peach cobbler, loaded baked potato salad, cakes, burritos, nachos, prime rib, and lasagna.
What do you enjoy most about cooking?
I enjoy seeing my family and others enjoying the food and the smiles it brings to them.
Do you have any recipes you’re eager to try?
I’m eager to try making Beef Wellington again. I made it once at school and enjoyed it, so hopefully I will make it again soon.
Do you have any hobbies or participate in any activities outside of work?
Shopping, traveling, and cooking.
What do you enjoy the most about traveling?
I enjoy traveling with my husband, family, and friends.
What was your favorite place to visit, and why?
My favorite place so far has been Hawaii. I really enjoyed Oahu and loved its culture and beauty. I would love to move there someday. I’m also looking forward to visiting their other islands one day.
What destinations are on your bucket list?
Africa and Fiji are some places I would love to visit.

Can you describe an interaction when you helped a client or a supplier that stands out in your mind?
I had an older gentleman who was having a hard time understanding what I was requesting. He was getting frustrated, but I took my time and explained everything several times, and he was appreciative.
What was the best compliment a client or supplier has ever paid you?
Thank you for being pleasant to talk to.
What is the best part of serving the healthcare market?
Helping people.
What has been your experience with SpendMend community service events?
I like that SpendMend is engaged with the community, and I also enjoy March Madness.

Meeting new people daily, and understanding my job a little each day. There is a lot to learn.
