Hi everyone! For this Employee Spotlight edition, we are highlighting Taylor Felsinger. Taylor is a Statement Administrator and has been a part of the SpendMend team for about a year and a half. When asked what three words she would use to describe SpendMend, she stated, “Corporate, Beneficial, and Welcoming.” It was great getting to know Taylor more and hearing about her life outside of work. A fun fact about Taylor is that she was born in Wisconsin! She currently lives in NE Michigan. A hobby that Taylor enjoys doing at home is cooking! She is open to cooking or baking any recipe at least once; she prides herself as a “foodie.” At the moment, she has been experimenting with making food items from scratch. Her most recent hit was making homemade cinnamon rolls with cream cheese icing. Her family at loved them! Sounds like you got a great recipe, Taylor. Make sure to bring them to the next SpendMend potluck! Another hobby Taylor likes to do during her free time is crafting. Her favorite crafts to work with are paper crafts and beads. Currently, this includes scrapbooking and jewelry making! Another fun fact about Taylor is that she is an avid outdoors person. She states, “I used to spend my childhood tromping around anywhere my feet would take me.” Some of the trails she likes the most are in the Grand Rapids, MI, area, such as the Ottawa County Parks. Her most loved is “Rosy Mound Park” because it has gorgeous dune views and is a good workout! If you’re visiting the west side of Michigan, be sure to check out these outdoor trails.
Taylor does a great job in her role as a Statement Administrator. Just about a year and a half!
How did you first learn about SpendMend?
An associate.

Where are you located/from?
I am Wisconsin-born living in NE Michigan.
Do you look forward to coming to work?
Absolutely
Before working at SpendMend, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
When I first moved away after high school, I was painting faces at the John Ball Zoo!
What is one fun fact about you?
I spend a lot of time making, what, you ask? Anything I can get my hands on could be food or a home DIY.
What kind of foods do you enjoy making?
I’ll try to cook or bake any recipe once; I am a huge food person.
Favorite food you’ve made and why?
I recently dived deep into making things from scratch. I made a cinnamon roll with cream cheese icing that was a huge hit in my house.
What type of music or podcasts do you listen to during the workday?
I listen to stuff you should know! I love to learn and just understand the world around me better.
Do you have any hobbies or participate in any activities outside of work?
Hiking, crafting, yard work and beachcombing!
When did you start hiking?
I have been an avid outdoors person my whole life. I used to spend my childhood tromping around anywhere my feet would take me.
What are some of your favorite hikes, and why?
Around the GR area, the Ottawa County Parks are a marvelous set of trails to explore. My current favorite is the ‘Rosy Mound Park.’ It has gorgeous dune views and is quite the workout. In my neck of the woods, however, anything that takes me to a waterfall.
What kinds of crafts do you enjoy making and why?
I am big into paper crafts and beads right now, things like scrapbooking and jewelry making.
What inspires you to create and start projects?
I like to spend much of my free time learning.
Can you describe an interaction when you helped a client or a supplier that stands out in your mind?
When I started in statement calling, I dealt with a fair share of AR reps who were rather relieved to hear from us, to say the least. From having trouble getting payment, to large unapplied payments just sitting and waiting for someone.
What was the best compliment you’ve ever been paid by a client or supplier?
A very kind lady from a small print shop of sorts wished me a Merry Christmas and sent photos of me in the Bahamas. I just thought it was sweet of her to even remember me.
What is the best part of serving the healthcare market?
I genuinely feel as though we are an unsung hero. Lots of ‘cash’ moves hands, and it takes time and a lot of human effort to trace/track it/.
Do you want to shout out a co-worker who has helped or inspired you at SpendMend?
Briana Lourck, for her seamless onboarding and just overall the confidence boost I received upon starting.
What advice do you have for prospective candidates who want to join the SpendMend team?
A great place to work, even if it’s your first corporate job. Not sure they get any better!
What has been your proudest accomplishment at SpendMend?
Learning different positions and feeling as though I excel in them.
What is something you’re looking forward to in the future at SpendMend?
The stability. I am confident in my ability to plan for the future.
