Happy Friday! This week we are highlighting Mindy Aubuchon for the Employee Spotlight series. Mindy is a Medical Device Specialist and joined the SpendMend team 22 years ago! When asked why she looks forward to coming to work, she stated, “To use my detail-oriented skills to make a difference and help advance my division in our goals. I enjoy being part of a team that values me and my contributions.” Outside of work, one of Mindy’s favorite hobbies is taking long walks and hiking in the mountains. She enjoys hiking anywhere she can, but her favorite place is in the mountains. When Mindy lived in Boone, NC, she hiked daily! Mindy’s favorite walking partner is her dog, Ruby! Mindy states, “She can go on forever!” A fun fact about Mindy is that she has a rose nursery, and grows over 450 different varieties of roses that she propagates from. Mindy has had her rose nursery operational for four years now. The rose’s beauty and fragrance piqued her interest and captured her heart about 25 years ago.
Mindy is an inspired leader and valued member of our team! She is greatly appreciated by co-workers. How long have you been with SpendMend?
22 years
How did you first learn about SpendMend?
Back 22 yeas ago when it was BSI, I joined the company to help gets the Telecom Audit division off the ground

To use my detail-oriented skills to make a difference and help advance my division in our goals. I enjoy being part of a team that values me and my contributions
Before working at SpendMend, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
Being in charge of and taking care of four adults in a residential home with mental illness. It was very eye opening, challenging, and made me grateful.
What is one fun fact about you?
I have a rose nursery and grow over 450 different variety’s of roses that I propagate from.
What type of music or podcasts do you listen to during the workday?
I rarely listen to music while I am working, but if I do, Adele is a favorite.
Do you have any hobbies or participate in any activities outside of work?
My roses, gardening in general is a passion of mine, I enjoy long walks and hiking in the mountains

Can you describe an interaction when you helped a client or a supplier that stands out in your mind?
Prior being in the Med Device Division, I was my own department, Wireless Account Management for almost 18 years. I handled all 10,000 of the wireless devices for Potomac Electric Power Company. I was the single source for all of their wireless needs for much of those 18 years. I helped many people. I worked during vacations, and often on weekends, helping out those who had a cell phone emergency.
What was the best compliment you’ve ever been paid by a client or supplier?
Being told many times my People at Pepco I supported that “I don’t know what I would do without you”
What is the best part of serving the healthcare market?
Learning new things that I never thought I would be involved in
What advice do you have for prospective candidates who want to join the SpendMend team?
I’ve been here 22 years, so I think it’s a great company to work for. Even my son works here!
What has been your proudest accomplishment at SpendMend?
In my new role, it would probably be challenging a medical device manufacturer when they denied a warranty credit, and ended up issuing the credit when I was able to prove that it was justified. I hope to have many more of those moments.
What is something you’re looking forward to for your future at SpendMend?
Continuing with Medical Device and learning new things, then in about 7 years, retiring!
